A Night of New York Jazz
Wednesday 7th October, 7.30pm
A 25-year veteran of the New York jazz scene, Australian saxophonist Nick Hempton is making a rare trip home.
From the legendary organ rooms of Harlem and Greenwich Village, Hempton is bringing his free-blowing blend of "bar room excitement and modern jazz finesse" to Adelaide's St Peter's Cathedral for one performance only.
Fronting a classic Hammond organ band featuring James Muller on guitar, Paul White on organ, and Ben Riley at the drums, Hempton will be showcasing the blues, boogaloos, and shuffles of Jimmy Smith, Stanley Turrentine, and Lou Donaldson.
Don't miss this rousing night of good-time soul jazz that promises to be "badass, swinging and flat-out fun..." - DownBeat Magazine
